For Biography starters, Oluyemi Oluleke “Yemi” Osinbajo was born on the 8th day of March 1957 at Creek Hospital in Lagos State.

He was the second of five children born to his mother, Olubisi Osinbajo (a schoolteacher) and to his father, Opeoluwa Osinbajo (an engineer).

Young Yemi grew up in the commercial city of Lagos State, beholding spectacles of the smallest southwestern Nigerian city that won’t stop growing.

The youngster was raised by his monogamous parents alongside his older brother Femi and younger siblings Akin, Tunde and Tolu.

Yemi’s family is a Christian household that has a history of Christianity, in fact, his paternal grandmother was a prophetess!

Consequently, discipline and cultural values were not alien to the upbringing of Yemi, who exhibited a blend of the aforementioned qualities to the delights of his parents.

“Their father always told them that whenever they wanted to greet an elderly person, they should prostrate.

One day, Yemi prostrated in court for his friend’s father, and the man really appreciated the gesture because even his own son didn’t prostrate in the courtroom”.

Yemi Osinbajo Education:

Yemi was unlike his peers at the time, enrolled early in school by his enlightened parent. His academic background comprises his primary or elementary education at Corona School in Lagos State.

He thereafter progressed to Igbobi College Yaba where he had his secondary or high school education.

While at the school, Osinbajo was renowned for his oratory, a skill that did not only see him win prizes for English oratory but dictated the course of his future studies.

“Daddy wanted Yemi to be a doctor and took him to science school. However, as a teacher, I felt Yemi should be a lawyer because he performed better in art subjects.

One day, the principal of the school they attended came to daddy and told him that ‘Yemi would make an exceptional lawyer but he would be an ordinary doctor’. It was then that daddy withdrew Yemi from science class and took him to art class”.

Thus began Yemi’s early steps towards Law, a course he would later study at the University of Lagos (1975-1978) to obtain his first degree.

Subsequent pursuits saw Yemi acquire professional training at Nigerian Law School and thereafter, bagged his master’s from the London School of Economics.

Yemi Osinbajo Biography – Journey Fame:

1981 was the year Yemi gained employment as a Junior Lecturer at the University of Lagos. Progressing through the ranks of lecturing, which became his primary career, Yemi had other law pursuits and non-legal businesses at the sidelines of his academic vocation.

They include his services as a Member of Cabinet, Lagos State Ministry of Justice, Lagos State Commissioner for Justice, Lagos State Attorney General, among a few other endeavors.

While it is still unclear of when Yemi made his foray in politics, it is worthwhile to note that he had long been an informal student of politics, learning at the feet of political leader, Bola Tinubu.

 

Yemi’s loyalty and commitment to the political school of Bola Tinubu made him become a part of a notable Nigerian who in 2013, designed the manifesto for the then Nigerian opposition party known as All Progressive Congress APC.

Months later, Yemi was a made running mate to the party’s presidential candidate Muhammadu Buhari in 2014.

 

The duo made history in 2015 by defeating the incumbent government of Goodluck Jonathan to win the 2015 elections.

It wasn’t long before Osinbajo was sworn in as vice president of Nigeria alongside his principal, President Muhammadu Buhari. And also having a Senate President in the person of Bukola Saraki.
